Value of CHS in Lithium Ion Batteries

In this video, Ramez Elgammel, CTO of The Coretec Group, discusses the value of CHS in lithium-ion batteries, specifically silicon anodes. The use of silicon greatly increases charge density over traditional graphite anodes and CHS offers anode surfaces that greatly reduce the irreversible capacity loss on the first charge, thereby increasing the battery’s capacity and range that can be reached on a single charge. Additional benefits include the opportunity for doped silicon anodes for increased conductivity and silicon nitride anodes with superior cycling stability.
